About this plan
The text is the King James Version (the Authorized Version of 1611, in the standard 1769 text). Every reading is printed in full on this page: open a reading with Read, or open them all at once and print the whole plan as a book. Words shown in italics were supplied by the translators.
The order is deliberate. John's prologue opens the plan. Luke's Gospel is read from the story onward (Luke's dedication and the genealogy are set aside), and Matthew's Sermon on the Mount is added after Luke's Sermon on the Plain so that both are heard. The Lord Jesus Christ's words in the upper room, John 14–17, are placed within the night of the Last Supper. The Acts of the Apostles follows, with each epistle read at the point in the story where it was written. Now and then a single psalm is set beside the passage it echoes — never two together, and always with at least three readings of the story between, so that the story keeps the lead. The genealogy from Joseph back to Adam is read after the Revelation, and the psalms not yet read close the plan, gathered by subject: praise, the King and Zion, protection and trust, hardship, repentance, and the righteous life.
The order of reading
Shaded lines are Psalms. Readings are numbered in order; read one or several a day, as you are able.
